House Finch (Carpodacus mexicanus)

Date: 2 April 2008

Number observed: 2

Notes:

For one of them:
Not 100% sure it is a house finch. It had a thick bill. Oddly, the color was peach, rather than pink or red. The color was only on its head and right under its chin. The whole body was grayish; it looked lighter than the house sparrow pictures in the book. The breast was streaked all the way across and down.

Some male House Finches are orange or yellowish shades instead of the brighter reddish color.
