Crow Honeyeater (Gymnomyza aubryana)
Date: 1 June 2008
Location: Parc Provincial de la Rivière Bleue (humid forest) (Southern Province, New Caledonia)
Number observed: 1
Notes:
While I was standing at the base of the Grand Kaori, a large black bird flew past in front of me. Got fragmented glimpses through the branches as it hopped through and disappeared -- black body and tail, bare orange facial skin, part of a bill. A long, clear look would have been nice, but this encounter left me excited and satisfied.
