Brown-winged Starling (Aplonis grandis)

Location: Buka (Buka, Buka, Bougainville, Papua New Guinea)
Notes:
thin, high pitched note drew my attention; blackish starlings with dark eye (dark brown-red in sunlight) and lanceolate neck feathers that gave the birds a maned look; brown primaries surprisingly subtle but visible in decent light and at close range (saw them best in the evening as birds bathed in wet foliage)
