Silver-eared Honeyeater (Lichmera alboauricularis)

Date: 12 June 2006

Location: St. Paul's Pastoral Care Centre (Alotau, Milne Bay, Papua New Guinea)

Notes:

small, drab honeyeater with loud, strident, repetitive call puzzled me for several days, partly because of difficulty in obtaining satisfactory looks; streaky breast and pale whitish patch behind eye, something like a Meliphaga; gregarious and noisy; abundant, sometimes drinking/bathing in roof gutter
