Fawn-breasted Bowerbird (Chlamydera cerviniventris)

Date: 4 March 2006

Location: MAPANG Missionary Home (Boroko, National Capital, Papua New Guinea)

Notes:

strange screeching caught my attention though at first I didn't think the sounds were actually coming from birds. largish passerines (smaller than a crow) with stout black bills and pale cinnamon underparts. proportionally, longer necks and smaller heads than most songbirds. big black eye set in a streaked, brownish face. upperparts and upper breasts drab and streaked. no hint of yellow.

See general information about Fawn-breasted Bowerbird.
