Purple Swamphen (Porphyrio porphyrio)

Location: Waima/Mekeo area (Central, Papua New Guinea)
Notes:
large, dark bird with heavy red bill and forehead shield; blue/purple gloss as we went past and it sprang from the road; did not see white undertail, though I did on another bird at Jackson's airport the next day (and it was flicking its tail)
