Common Cicadabird (Coracina tenuirostris)

Date: 27 June 2006

Location: Sohun Village (Sohun, New Ireland, Papua New Guinea)

Notes:

fairly large, slender cuckoo-shrike that stayed high in trees and gave a single-noted, downslurred call singly in flight (this reminded me of an American Robin's flight call); the bird's belly was paler gray than the rest of it, but it was farily monochromatic overall with perhaps a slight darkening of the flight feathers and face; did not note a large bill
