I'm glad you like the new features.

Yes, all of the ideas you listed sound great, and we definitely intend to implement all of them (or at least something similar to them). The only problem is that there are only so many hours in a day. :-)

I like this, and I think will find it useful.

As has been suggested, those who prefer to keep information private can certainly do so.

A few other possible suggestions:

- to facilitate social interaction, a contact/friend/buddy/PM system might be developed to find birders in your area, or those who like raptors, or the like. Again, this could be turned off, or made reciprocal only for those who want more privacy.

- the "people" link might be more comprehensive, or perhaps include a filter for location, again to help find (willing) birders in one's area.

- the "more information on species" link is great; possibly it could be expanded to include recent observations on birdstack. I also like the link to the Field Guide flickr group.

EDIT: Ah, I see a lot of these ideas have already been suggested.

We just finished up this feature today. By going to a user's profile page, you can now browse all of their public lists, trips, and locations.

thanks much David - I'm starting to get the hang of the Search thing now and it gave me the list I was after.
People's trips and locations would be interesting to look at (and possibly puzzling in the case of some of my cryptic ones that need editing), and as antshrike says - they can be made private.

OK, we've been thinking of listing members' lists, trips, and locations on the profile pages. How does that sound? Any concerns or ideas along those lines?

Fregata, you can get to your life list through My Observations > Life list. This will show the first record of each species you've observed.

Ditto! Plus I want to know how many different species of birds are on my own list. Because the taxonomy used here doesn't coincide with that used to make my own life list (in spreadsheet) - I am getting confused by species splits and lumps. Would be nice to get a life list without having to do too much work.

When you click on a person's profile, I see their total list of observations. But how do you see just the life list subset? I want to know how many different birds Mr. Belardo has seen.
